Pairs and Spares

Several years ago in the church, we had a program called Pairs and Spares. This included anyone, single, young old, married, unmarried or widowed. We were divided into small groups and once a month we met together for a meal. We could choose to go out for the meal or have it in one of our homes. Every so often we would plan a special program or a trip to include our children. We went carolling at Christmas, had church picnics, went to the zoo in Indianapolis and to the children's museum. We also went to a dinner theater at 1st Presbyterian church in Fort Wayne.
Our groups changed so over the time we had this program, we became close in fellowship around the table with a lot of people in our congregation. We also got to know the children in the congregation. As we met together we would share memories, talk about our growing up years so that in time we became like family and we did become the family of God. Out of the Pairs and Spares grew our church camp-outs, one of the most fun things that we have done.
