Sesquicentennial Celebration

After our research into the history of the church we started the celebration plans. We invited all of the past living pastors to be with us in November, our birthday month. Rev Arthur Osborn, Rev James Gillespie, Rev Dale Dickey and Rev. Richard Wylie. Rev. Marshall Simpson was not able to attend. Each Sunday , someone in costume would speak on the history of the church. In November we had a style show with costumes from different periods of the 150 years. We made paper weights with a picture of the church. It was such a fun time as we made history books with old pictures and brought out many of the items that had been given to the church in the past. As we worked together to make this a special event in our church, we came to the realization that without the past there would be no today and without today there will be no future. 1985 was the 150th birthday of the church here in Peru. Today let us keep our eyes on the future so that we can leave the same heritage to our children, grandchildren and even our great grandchildren. " Each day is a day to be lived, a day to gather the stones from which we will build our new selves. The stones will include ones that are smooth and polished, others that are jagged and rough; some that are large, some that are small; some that are precious and rare, others that are common and ordinary. Such is the nature of our days." This is a quote from a Bible study we did on Pentacost, the birthday of the church universal.
